The city of Pine Bluff hosted a grand opening at the Police Training Center in honor of fallen officer Detective Kevin Collins. The event started with a prayer followed by Mayor Shirley Washington giving a statement on the efforts it took to put the event together. With the building still being a work of progress, Mayor Washington stated the future plans of the facility, and also a milestone made which was to make the center operational. Mayor Washington recognized Mrs. Dornetta Hobbs and the Collins family for working towards a scholarship drive that was initiated by the family and Pastor Matt Mosler of New Life Church in Pine Bluff. The name of the scholarship fund is the Kevin Collins scholarship:
