A $5,000 cash-only bond was set Tuesday for a Pine Bluff man currently on probation who was arrested after a gun was found in a backpack he was carrying.

Pine Bluff District Judge John Kearney set the bond after ruling prosecutors have probable cause to charge Deundrae McLemore, 22, with being a felon in possession of a firearm.

Reading from a probable cause affidavit from Sheriff’s Investigator Nathan Jines, Deputy Prosecutor Jill Reed said deputies were working security off-duty at a block party on Main Street Saturday at 11 p.m.

Reed said the gun will be sent to the state crime laboratory for analysis.

When McLemore was questioned, he said the gun in the backpack belonged to his brother and he was holding the backpack for him.

McLemore was placed on probation stemming from charges of fleeing and theft by receiving in 2018 and Reed said prosecutors will be filing a petition to revoke that probation.  He was told to come back to court on June 23.
