A $5,000 bond was set Monday for a Pine Bluff man who was arrested Saturday driving a car that did not belong to him.

Jefferson County District Judge Kim Bridgforth set the bond after ruling prosecutors have probable cause to charge Montrey Walker, 32, with theft by receiving.

During the court hearing, Deputy Prosecutor Beth Carson said Jefferson County Sheriff’s Deputy Bradley Shell conducted a traffic stop on a 2017 Ford Mustang driven by Walker because the vehicle had a defective trail light.

Carson said Walker had no prior criminal history in Arkansas but possibly had a prior charge in Dallas.

In addition to the felony allegation, Walker pleaded not guilty to the misdemeanor charge of driving on a suspended license, fictitious tags, and criminal impersonation. He said he would hire his own attorney.
