The body of a Sheridan woman was found in East End last week according to the Sheridan Headlight Newspaper. Jennifer Keenzel, 48, was found dead in a wooded area off of Fairhaven Drive.
The body was discovered last Monday, January 24th, and was subsequently identified on Wednesday using fingerprints. When the body was first discovered, reports said the body was a male. The body was sent to the Arkansas State Crime Lab for an autopsy to determine the cause of death. Officials with the Grant County Sheriff’s Office said there were no signs of foul play.
Also, the Headlight featured an arrest for a suspect who was involved in a hit and run accident located in East End as well. Winfred Petty 66, of Hensley, died at the scene after being hit by a black SUV. Petty was working his job with the Arkansas Department of Transportation when the accident occurred. Petty was putting up traffic barrels to prepare a temporary overnight lane closure when the black SUV struck and killed him. Crystal Johnson, 37 of North Little Rock, was arrested without incident last week.
Johnson was later determined to be the owner and driver of the vehicle. She is being charged with leaving the scene of an accident involving death, a class B felony. The Arkansas State Police are handling this ongoing investigation.
