PINE BLUFF, Ark. (AP) _ Simmons First National Corp. (SFNC) on Thursday reported fourth-quarter earnings of $52.7 million.

The bank, based in Pine Bluff, Arkansas, said it had earnings of 49 cents per share. Earnings, adjusted for one-time gains and costs, were 66 cents per share.

The results beat Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of three analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 61 cents per share.

The bank holding company posted revenue of $259 million in the period. Its revenue net of interest expense was $212.7 million, also beating Street forecasts.

For the year, the company reported profit of $237.8 million, or $2.41 per share. Revenue was reported as $806.8 million.

Simmons First National shares have declined almost 4% since the beginning of the year. The stock has dropped 1.5% in the last 12 months.
