The Pine Bluff Police Department is inviting the community to its annual Fishing Derby on Saturday, Aug. 15, at Martin Luther King Jr. Park.
The free event will run from 8 a.m. until noon and is open to children ages 15 and under as well as senior citizens.
Organizers say the fishing derby is one of the department’s largest community outreach events each year, bringing families together for a morning of fishing, food and activities.
Participants are encouraged to bring their own fishing pole and a chair.
In addition to fishing, attendees can enjoy free food, prizes and several family-friendly activities throughout the morning.
Planned attractions include a pie-eating contest, popcorn, snow-cones and other refreshments.
Senior bags will also be available while supplies last.
The event is sponsored by the Pine Bluff Police Department and Pine Hill Missionary Baptist Church.
