As TOPPS looks beyond the summer, the organization is preparing for another year of its DREAMS program, which focuses on helping local students prepare for life after high school.

The initiative offers support and guidance to students as they begin planning for their futures, with opportunities aimed at building both academic and leadership skills.

Founder Annette Dove explained how the program works and what it provides for participants.

TOPPS recently received a grant from the Walton Foundation that will support future DREAMS programming. Organization leaders say the funding will help expand activities while the board of directors continues planning additional educational opportunities for the upcoming school year.

In addition to college readiness and leadership development, the DREAMS program offers qualifying students the opportunity to travel internationally. During the upcoming program year, selected participants will travel to Spain. Dove shared how students earn that opportunity and what organizers hope they gain from the experience.

Beyond its educational programming, TOPPS continues to seek volunteers and community support. The nonprofit accepts tax-deductible donations through its website or by mail, with contributions helping sustain programs that provide academic support, leadership development and college preparation for local students.
