The City of Pine Bluff is alerting residents and community partners about fraudulent emails being circulated by individuals falsely claiming to be a city official.
The messages may appear urgent, request that the recipient respond only by email, or ask that a matter be handled discreetly. Some may also include Mayor Flowers’ name, title, and a fraudulent signature to appear legitimate. Mayor Flowers did not send these messages.
Anyone who receives a suspicious email claiming to be from the Mayor or another City official should:
Not reply to the message.
Not click links or open attachments.
Not provide personal or financial information.
Not purchase gift cards or send money.
Verify the request by contacting the City through an official telephone number or email address.
Residents are encouraged to check the sender’s complete email address, as scammers often use personal or unfamiliar accounts while impersonating public officials.
The City is reviewing the matter and encourages recipients to report suspicious messages to their email provider and the appropriate authorities.
