A fatal traffic collision early Saturday morning claimed the life of a bicyclist in Pine Bluff. Police responded to Olive Street and Ridgway Road around 5:22 a.m. after reports of a crash involving a bicycle and a black midsize SUV.
Officers found a 66-year-old white male lying unresponsive in the roadway. Jefferson County Deputy Coroner April Davis pronounced him dead at the scene shortly after 6 a.m. Authorities have not released the victim’s name, as they are still notifying his family.
The SUV driver stayed at the scene and went to Jefferson Regional Medical Center. Police have not released more details about the driver’s condition or possible charges. Investigators from the Pine Bluff Police Traffic Unit are working to determine what led to the collision.
