An 84-year-old woman from Fordyce was found floating in the therapy pool at the Carl Redus, Jr. Aquatics Center on June 10, and now more than three weeks later, everyone is still wondering what happened. The Mayor’s Office, which has taken the lead in the investigation following visits by the Arkansas Department of Health, told Deltaplex News that a formal review was instigated just two days after the death of Iradell Collins. In an interview with Mayor Flowers and Martavious Proctor on Monday, the Mayor said the delivery of the report and possibly a briefing would take place this week, most likely on Friday. The report from the ADH, obtained exclusively by Deltaplex News showed that certain equipment, including a flow meter was not functioning at the time of Mrs. Collins death. There was also conflicting information about where the body was discovered by personnel at the Center. The police report showed the body was in the main pool area, while the ADH reported the body was found in the therapy pool.  Deltaplex News has also filed a FOIA request to get the finished report, which we were told will be out either today or tomorrow (July 3rd).  Deltaplex News also asked the Mayor’s office if any legal action has been taken at this point by the family members and the Mayor said she was not aware of any. The Arkansas State Crime would take up to 90 days for release the autopsy results. Deltaplex News will continue to follow this story.
