A run-off will be needed in four weeks to decide the Democratic Party nominee for Jefferson County Judge after the party primary Tuesday.
Current County Judge Gerald Robinson finished second to attorney Efrem Neely Sr., in the five-man race with Robinson getting 1,776 votes to 2,076 for Neely. Eric Walden Jr. was third, Jeff Edwards fourth and Michael Turley fifth.
Robinson spoke with Deltaplex News about the runoff.
The other big story of the primary was the defeat of Pine Bluff City Council Member Lanette Frazier losing her bid for a second term to Jeffery Neal. Frazier collected 580 votes while Neal got 983.
In the race to replace retiring Prosecuting Attorney S. Kyle Hunter, Karres Manning-Center, a current chief deputy prosecutor, and Evelyn Morehead will face each other in a run-off in November. Attorney Joe West finished third and Mircha King was fourth.
Incumbent Assessor Gloria Tillman, County Clerk Shawndra Taggart and Coroner Chad Kelley all won reelection, as did Sheriff Lafayette Woods Jr., and Connie Compton downed Barbara Colins for the position of Circuit Clerk.
Incumbent JP’s Reginald Adams, Reginald Johnson and Brenda Bishop-Gaddy all won their respective races whine Incumbents Patricia Royal Johnson and Jimmy Fisher lost, Johnson to Arkansas State Police Criminal Investigator Oscar Bullard and Fisher to former Pine Bluff City Councilman and retired Pine Bluff Police Chief Ivan Whitfield.
District 1 Justice of the Peace Alfred Carroll finished second to Jacqeline Tillmon in a three-person race and the two will face each other in four weeks.
Winning JP positions for the first time were Randy Green and George Barnes.
