One of Arkansas’ most historic ballparks is preparing for a major milestone.
On Saturday, October 4, Taylor Field will celebrate its 85th anniversary with a full day of baseball and family-friendly activities.
Built in 1940 by the Works Progress Administration under President Franklin D. Roosevelt, Taylor Field is one of the oldest minor league baseball parks in the country. Over the decades, it has hosted professional baseball, the Babe Ruth World Series, televised games on ESPN, and even a ceremonial first pitch by former President Bill Clinton.
“This ballpark has shared so many wonderful memories with thousands of people over the past 85 years,” said Jeff Gross, Director of Baseball Operations at Taylor Field. “We look forward to welcoming back former players, coaches, and fans who have all been part of its incredible history.”
Organizers hope the anniversary will bring the community together to celebrate a venue that has been a cornerstone of Pine Bluff sports for generations.
“From baseball games to special events, Taylor Field has been part of countless memories,” Gross said. “This day is about honoring the past and looking forward to many more years of history being made here.”
