Someone paid over $14,000 for some of Kurt Cobain‘s hair.

Earlier this month, Iconic Auctions announced that it would be selling six strands of the late Nirvana frontman’s hair to the highest bidder. The auction closed over the weekend, and, according to the Iconic Auctions website, the winner ended up paying $14,145 for the collection.

The hair is matted to an 8.5″ x 11″ sheet, and is accompanied by photos of Cobain’s friend, Tessa Osbourne, giving him the very same haircut that produced the strands in 1989. Even still, we’re not sure that makes up for the price of nearly $2,360 per strand.

Last summer, Cobain’s 1959 Martin D-18E guitar, which he played during Nirvana’s iconic MTV Unplugged special, sold for $6 million, the highest price ever for a guitar at auction.
