A $75,000 bond was set Monday for a Pine Bluff man accused of beating and choking his girlfriend Saturday.

Jefferson County District Judge Kim Bridgforth set the bond after ruling prosecutors have probable cause to charge Dontell Spraglin, 45, with aggravated assault on a family or household member.

Reading from a probable cause affidavit from Detective Mike Merritt, Deputy Prosecutor Beth Carson said police were sent to a reported disturbance on 15th Avenue where the victim said Spraglin had beaten her and held her down so she could not breathe after an argument.

Spraglin was ordered to have no contact with the victim until the case is set.
