A $35,000 cash-only bond was set Friday for a Pine Bluff man previously convicted of a felony after police found a loaded gun in the man’s pocket.

Pine Bluff District Judge John Kearney set the bond after ruling prosecutors have probable cause to charge Aaron Neal, 43, as a felon in possession of a firearm.

Reading from an affidavit from White Hall Police Investigator Clayton Cantrell, Deputy Prosecutor Mircha King said officers from White Hall and other agencies were in the area of 304 W. 16th Wednesday at about 5 p.m. looking for Neal, who was wanted on multiple felony warrants and an alias warrant from Jefferson County.

King said Neal has a pending charge in Star City on drug-related allegations and in Jefferson Count for being a felon in possession of a firearm.

The Public Defender’s Office was appointed to represent Neal and he was ordered to come back to court Aug. 8
