A $25,000 cash-only bond was set Wednesday for a Pine Bluff man currently out on bond on two separate felony allegations after a stolen handgun was found in the car the man was driving.

Pine Bluff District Judge John Kearney set the bond after ruling prosecutors have probable cause to charge Xxavier Long, 27, with theft by receiving.

Reading from an affidavit from White Hall Police Investigator Clayton Cantrell, Deputy Prosecutor Mircha King said on Monday at 1:20 p.m. White hall officers were on Dollarway Road at Colonial Park when they saw a Chevrolet Impala with a paper tag and when they ran the tag number, were told the tag had been reported stolen.

After confirming that, officers conducted a traffic stop.

King said officers ran the serial number of the handgun and learned that it had been reported stolen in Chicago.

Long’s mother had an active warrant for failure to appear but the sheriff’s office asked White Hall officers not to serve the warrant because of a lack of jail bed space.

Long said he would hire his own attorney.
