A $25,000 bond was set Thursday for a Pine Bluff man accused of breaking into an apartment on Tuesday and stealing a television and other items.

Pine Bluff District Judge John Kearney set the bond after ruling prosecutors have probable cause to charge Derrick Camp, 39, with burglary, theft of property, possession of a controlled substance, and being a felon in possession of a firearm because of prior convictions.

Reading from a probable cause affidavit from Detective Jason Boykin, Deputy Prosecutor Mircha King said police were sent to an apartment at 3021 S. Main where the victim said they had received a phone call from a witness who told them that Camp had broken into their apartment and taken television and other items.

Police located the witness aid King told the court what the witness said.

Police also found damage to a back window of the apartment and took photos of the window.

King said there was a second incident involving Camp and the SUV and explained it.

When Camp was questioned, he admitted he knew he was a convicted felon and knew he was not supposed to have the weapon. He said he used it as a scare tactic.

King said police found several counterfeit $100 bills mixed with real currency In Camp’s wallet.

Camp has prior convictions for breaking or entering in 2015 and forgery in 2012. He was told to come back to court June 27.
