A Pine Bluff man was arrested Wednesday after he allegedly beat the mother of his child.

Eric Brown, 47, was taken into custody after police were sent to a reported domestic incident at Brown’s residence.

Reading from an affidavit from Detective Ryan Moheb Deputy Prosecutor Shana Alexander told the court what police found when they arrived.

Moheb reported that when Brown was interviewed, he admitted hitting the victim but said it was in self-defense. He also said he did not call 911 because he did not think the cut was serious and he didn’t want to get evicted.

Pine Bluff District Judge John Kearney set a $25,000 bond for Brown after ruling prosecutors have probable cause to charge him with second-degree domestic battery.

He was ordered to have no contact with the victim, who Alexander said was the mother of Brown’s child until the case is settled.
