Carrie Darby, 22, and Joseph Phillips, 30, of Widener, were charged with manslaughter Thursday after their 13-month old daughter ate methamphetamine and died.

Widener is a town of about 250 people just east of Forrest City. The child was taken to the Forrest City Medical Center with a temperature of 105 degrees. Medical personnel decided to airlift the child to Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital in Memphis for further treatment. She died while in route. The autopsy report found that the girl had died from methamphetamine intoxication. The manner of death was then ruled a homicide.
