Officials with South Sheridan and Little Creek Water are urging all members to immediately conserve water following a lightning strike that impacted the community’s water plant late Saturday night or early Sunday morning.

Due to the damage sustained, water pressure across the service area has been significantly reduced. As a result, residents are asked to turn off all water sprinkler systems and avoid filling swimming pools or using excessive amounts of water until further notice.

“At this time, our primary focus is on restoring water pressure to all areas,” officials said in a statement. “There are still members of our community who currently do not have enough water pressure to take a shower or do laundry. It is critical that we all do our part to ensure everyone has access to water.”

The utility also announced that any requests to activate meters for sprinkler systems will be denied until normal pressure levels are restored throughout the system.

There is currently no estimated time of restoration, but crews are working diligently to resolve the issue.
