A as yet unidentified woman was killed in the early morning hours Saturday after being hit by a vehicle that left the scene.
According to a preliminary report, the woman was walking northbound off the roadway on Hazel Street when the driver of a vehicle apparently lost control, left the roadway and hit the woman, then left the scene.
The accident was reported at 6:20 a.m. near 34th Avenue and Hazel Street.
Jefferson County Coroner Chad Kelley told Deltaplex News Tuesday that the State Medical Examiner is attempting to confirm the identity of the woman.
