UAPB Volleyball: Jones Earns Preseason All-SWAC Honors
Pine Bluff, AR. – The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff’s volleyball team had one player named to the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) All-Conference teams, announced by the league Tuesday morning.
Zykia Jones is one of the most versatile players in the SWAC, and she played a major role for the Lady Lions a season ago. Jones appeared in 31 matches, starting in all of them and playing in 102 sets. Offensively, Jones returns to the team as the leader in kills with 279, while averaging 2.75 kills per set. She also is the second-leading returner with 31 service aces and leads all returners with 322.5 total points, while averaging 3.16 points per set.
Defensively, Jones returns as the leader in digs with 261 digs averaging 2.6 per set. Jones also added 20.0 blocks.
Jones set her career-high with 22 kills against Alabama A&M, along with 17 digs for a total of 24.0 points. She also posted a career-high of 26 digs against Grambling.
