UAPB Baseball: Fabian Dominant For UAPB in Shutout Victory Against Alabama A&M

HUNTSVILLE, AL – Junior Kenny Fabian was dealing on Thursday, throwing a four-hit shutout to lead the UAPB Golden Lions over the Alabama A&M Bulldogs 3-0.

Fabian went the distance for UAPB, giving up four hits, walking two and striking out six.

In the batter’s box, the Golden Lions were led by junior E. Gries-Smith, who went 2-for-3 on the day with a double and two RBIs. Sophomore Colin McLemore put together a standout day at the dish as well, going 1-for-3 with a double and a walk. Senior Ben Van Maanen also chipped in for UAPB, putting together one hit in four trips to the plate while adding an RBI.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Golden Lions took the lead for good in the first, scoring for the first time in the inning. Senior Gavin Terry came across to score the lone run of the inning for UAPB and get them on the board.

The Golden Lions then tacked on runs in the second and sixth innings, with their biggest output coming in the sixth when they scored one time. That run scored on Gries-Smith’s two-out RBI double.
