A number of counties in the Deltaplex will be sharing money from a fund created by the United State Treasury Department under the American Rescue Plan.
Called the Local Assistance and Tribal Consistency Fund, it provides $1.5 billion in two equal payments of $750 million for fiscal years 2022 and 2023.
During its meeting Tuesday, the Jefferson County Quorum Court recommended an ordinance creating a general sub-fund for the money which can be used for any government purpose other than a lobbying activity and can be treated as general revenue funds.
A list included with the proposed ordinance and federal fact sheets showed that Jefferson County will receive $50,000 this year and $50,000 next year.
Chicot County, Dallas County, Lincoln County, Ouachita County and Saline County will also receive $50,000 each for the next two years.
Some other Deltaplex counties will receive more, including $244,963.82 for Arkansas County, $151,217.06 for Ashley County, $71,000 for Bradley County and $119,183.67 for Desha County.
