Two Sheridan men were killed and a Jefferson man was left injured following a two-vehicle crash in Grant County Friday morning.
According to a preliminary report from the Arkansas State Police, 32-year-old Blake Wimberly from Jefferson was driving a 2007 Ram 3500 pickup truck southbound on Highway 167 just south of Grant County Road 167036 when he crossed the center line, striking a 2015 Dodge Promaster van head on.
A passenger in Wimberly’s truck, 27-year-old Dawson Whitmire of Sheridan, and the driver of the Promaster van, 61-year-old Randy Burkes of Sheridan, were both killed in the accident. Wimberly was injured in the crash.
The crash happened at 3:25 a.m. The road conditions were dry and the weather was clear, according to the report from the Arkansas State Police.
The deaths of Whitmire and Burkes were the sixth and seventh deaths on Arkansas highways in 2023 according to the report.
