The Pine Bluff Fire Department responded to a residential fire at 2307 W. 11th. Tuesday around 5 p.m. where firefighters discovered a badly burned body inside the residence while extinguishing the fire.

After the fire was extinguished Officers were notified of the discovery of a dead body found inside of the house. The body was sent to the Arkansas State Crime Laboratory for an autopsy to determine cause and manner of death.

According to a press release from the Pine Bluff Police Department a doctor with the Arkansas Crime Laboratory conducted an autopsy Friday morning, then notified Pine Bluff detectives that the autopsy revealed that the cause of death was gunshot wounds and the manner of death has been ruled as a homicide.

The identity of the deceased has not yet been positively identified due to the condition of the body, according to the press release.
