HOT SPRINGS VILLAGE, Ark. — The Hot Springs Village Police Department (HSVPD) confirmed that a woman killed in a homicide was pregnant at the time of her death.
On June 12, HSVPD received reports that a man was running on Nacozari Lane and shouting at neighbors.
Officers arrived on the scene to find the man, later identified as Stephen Gantz, 54, leaving the neighborhood in a black SUV.
Police say they attempted to perform a traffic stop on Gantz, who refused to stop and fled at high speeds.
Gantz eventually returned to a residence on Nacozari Lane, where he was taken into custody by law enforcement officers.
While checking the residence, police say they found a dead woman inside.
HSVPD’s Criminal Investigation Division has since identified the woman as 42-year-old Lourdes Del Carmen Nunez Burgos.
Police confirmed that Burgos, originally from Paraguay, was pregnant at the time of her death.
Gantz has been charged with first-degree murder and felony fleeing.
Authorities say their investigation is still open and ongoing.
