The body of a man found inside an 18-wheeler that was parked at Walmart Monday afternoon has been sent to the State Medical Examiner’s Office to determine the cause and manner of death, as well as to confirm an identification.
Jefferson County Coroner Chad Kelley officials are also attempting to locate relatives of the man, who was living in the 18-wheeler that was parked off to the side of the parking lot.
Police Lt. David Defoor said the truck had been parked on the lot since approximately December.
Defoor said it’s unknown how long the man had been dead but it might have been several days after police received a notice of a smell in the area.
He went on to say that there is no indication of foul play at this time.
