Young Athletes Shine at MLB Pitch, Hit & Run Event at Historic Taylor Field

Nearly 60 young athletes between the ages of 7 and 14 took the field at Historic Taylor Field for the Major League Baseball Pitch, Hit & Run competition, held under the blazing 93-degree sun. Representing Jefferson County and Southeast/Central Arkansas, participants battled the heat and each other in a spirited showcase of skill, determination, and sportsmanship.

“We were very pleased with the turnout for this year’s contest,” said Jeff Gross, Host and Founder of PRO-DAY Baseball. “The competition was great, and the scores were very close in all age groups.”

Top performers in the Baseball division were:

  • 7-8 age group: Cooper Boykin

  • 9-10 age group: Cash Davis

  • 11-12 age group: Davis Huitt

  • 13-14 age group: Jayden Johnson

In the Softball division, standout scorers included:

  • 7-8 age group: Adalynn Poss

  • 9-10 age group: Hadley Gross

  • 11-12 age group: Tinsley Poss

Jayden Johnson emerged as the overall points leader among all participants with an impressive 1,065 points in the 13–14 age group. His victory came in a tightly contested division, edging out runner-up Luke Roberts by just 15 points (1,050). Reid Allison finished third with 885.

Other age group highlights included:

  • 11–12 Baseball: Davis Huitt led with 940 points, followed by Jason Green (725) and Jayden Rushing (710).

  • 9–10 Baseball: Cash Davis secured the win with 810 points. Bryson Byerly (700) and Jarrius Higgins (630) rounded out the top three.

  • 7–8 Baseball: Cooper Boykin claimed first with 650 points, with John Ross (555) and Titus Foots (520) finishing second and third, respectively.

Top scorers from Arkansas and surrounding states will now move on to the Regional Competition in August or September. From there, winners will earn a coveted spot in the National Championship, held at the site of the 2025 Major League Baseball World Series.
