The Watson Chapel community is mourning the loss of former Wildcat football player and current Philander Smith College baseball player Taariq Conner, who was tragically killed in a single-vehicle accident on I-530 near Jefferson last week.
Watson Chapel head football coach Steven Heard spoke with Deltaplex News about Connor and the impact his passing has had on the Wildcat football program.
Watson Chapel Superintendent Dr. Keith McGee also reflected on Connor’s life, noting that he was a member of the Superintendent’s Council last year and describing him as a bright young man with a promising future.
McGee added that not enough is said about students like Connor who consistently did things the right way.
Heard echoed that sentiment, emphasizing the importance of Watson Chapel Schools continuing to help produce quality young men and women both on and off the field.
