Game 1: UAPB Strikes Early, Holds On 6-3

On Friday, Pine Bluff opened the series with a gritty 6-3 victory. After falling behind early, the Golden Lions clawed back with timely hitting and steady offense. UAPB with four runs in the later innings to pull away, paced by key hits from Konner Giddley, Blake Coleman and Dane Small. The Lions finished with nine hits to the Lumberjacks’ six, setting a positive tone for the weekend.

Saturday Doubleheader: Split Results, UAPB Lead Series 2-1

Saturday’s slate featured a doubleheader that saw each club take one:

  • Game 2 (Morning): UAPB edged SFA 4-3 in a tightly fought contest. The Golden Lions manufactured their runs with patience on the base paths and a clutch two-run eighth inning that proved decisive. Konner Giddley again stood out, making an impact with a double and scoring twice, while the relief corps held off SFA’s late push.

  • Game 3 (Afternoon): The Lumberjacks responded with a 2-1 win in a pitchers’ duel. UAPB starter Kenney Fabian delivered strong innings, but two unearned runs in the fifth proved the difference. Game 4: UAPB Drops Finale 11-5

The Golden Lions managed 5 runs on 11 hits and committed 3 errors in the series finale with Stephen F. Austin on Sunday afternoon at the Torii Hunter Baseball Complex. SFA wasted no time getting on the board, scoring 2 runs in the top of the first inning. UAPB answered with 3 runs over the next three innings (1-2nd, 2-3rd). But after scoring a run in the 5th, the Lumberjacks would blow the game open in their next at bat pushing across 7 runs to take a 10-3 lead. The Golden Lions would make one last push scoring 2 runs in the bottom of the ninth.
