The Golden Lions (7–13 overall, 4–3 SWAC) overcame a hostile environment at Southern’s home arena, pulling out the one-point victory thanks to clutch performances up and down the lineup.

Senior guard Quion Williams was outstanding, pacing UAPB with 23 points, and adding seven rebounds and three steals in a complete all-around effort. His scoring and defensive pressure proved pivotal in a game that saw lead changes throughout.

Trevon Payton was electric from deep, contributing 22 points on 7-for-10 shooting, including 6-for-8 from three-point range, keeping the Golden Lions competitive every time Southern mounted a charge.

Forward Jaquan Scott provided balanced scoring and clutch free-throw shooting, finishing with 14 points and calmly knocking down 7 of 9 from the charity stripe down the stretch.

With the game tied and the clock winding down, Southern’s final desperation three-point attempt rimmed out with just four seconds left. UAPB secured the rebound and the win, igniting a celebration on the bench and among the visiting fans.

Coach Solomon Bozeman had this to say about the win:

The road victory boosts the Golden Lions’ standing in SWAC play to 4-3 and could be a momentum builder as they approach a challenging stretch of conference games ahead.
