UAPB struck first, jumping out to a 7–0 lead on a 33-yard touchdown pass from Christian Peters to D’Avery Robinson. FAMU countered, taking control before the half scoring on a 47 yard field goal and a 15 yard touchdown pass building a lead they would not relinquish.

The margin remained manageable throughout the second half, however, FAMU converted all of their fourth-down attempts (3 of 3) and converted over half of their third-downs, which proved decisive. The final tally was just a 3-point difference (31–28), but FAMU dominated on the ground with 206 rushing yards vs. 95 for UAPB, a significant gap in run-game efficiency. UAPB Head Coach Alonzo Hampton had this to say about the loss:

UAPB’s QB Christian Peters was 26-36 for 333yds and 3TD’s with no interceptions, also rushing 11 times for 34 yards. Jaylen Jennings had 14 carries for 60 yards, while D’Avery Robinson led in both catches and receiving yards with 6 grabs for 95 yards and a touchdown. Jennings, Ellis Stewart, and Kareem Burke each had five receptions including touchdowns by Jennings and Stewart. Danarius Hilliard led the way defensively as he posted 15 total tackles with a tackle for loss and a sack.

After surrendering 206 rushing yards last game, limiting opponent ground game is critical as the Golden Lions move forward. Turning yardage into points and avoiding stalled drives will make a big difference. With Peters’ strong outing, the aerial attack should continue to be a strength, balancing that with better protection and execution will be key.

The narrow loss to FAMU stings, but it’s not the end of the story. UAPB showed they can compete. The upcoming game against Prairie View A&M is a perfect opportunity to channel that frustration into progress. By tightening up defensively, executing on offense, and playing with disciplined urgency.

A win would push UAPB toward a stronger finish in the SWAC and give the program a boost heading into next season. Kick-off for UAPB vs PVAMU is set for Saturday, November 15, at 2p.m. Live coverage will began at 1:30p.m. on Deltaplex Radio’s 99.3fm The Beat presented by Central Maloney Inc.
