The UAPB Golden Lions baseball team experienced a rapid turnaround last season and signing the sixth-ranked JUCO recruiting class in the nation under first-year head coach Logan Stout. Now, the Golden Lions are looking to build on that momentum heading into the 2026 campaign.

The season opens Friday at 11 a.m. at home against Lindenwood. Stout recently sat down with Deltaplex News to reflect on last year’s success and preview what lies ahead this season.

Stout said the Golden Lions will begin the season with a few players sidelined due to injuries, but the team remains deep on the mound. Left-hander Joe King has reached 95 mph, while ace Jalen Porter is touching 99 mph. Kenney Fabian also returns to bolster the pitching staff.

He also spoke about the rest of the team, and how they should look both offensively and defensively.

Stout also discussed what he considers the team’s biggest accomplishments during his first year, including breaking the school record for team GPA.

Golden Lions fans will notice a revamped field this season following a complete renovation of the infield. Stout also discussed the ongoing upgrades throughout the Torii Hunter Complex.

First pitch for the Golden Lions’ 2026 season is set for 11 a.m. Friday against Lindenwood, with a second game scheduled for 2 p.m. at the Torii Hunter Complex on the campus of the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff.
