The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff (UAPB) football team is set to receive a new look and a boost in morale thanks to a generous donation from a local community group. On Monday, the Corvette Brothers of Pine Bluff donated $3,000 to the UAPB Athletic Department to fund a jersey upgrade — specifically, to add player names to the backs of the football team’s jerseys.
UAPB Vice Chancellor of Intercollegiate Athletics Chris Robinson spoke about the donation.
Robinson said the university already has the jerseys in their possession, they just have to get the names put on the back of them.
Anthony Long Jr., President of the Corvette Brothers of Pine Bluff, said in a Facebook post that it was an honor for the club to be able to help the UAPB football program.
This week, we had the honor of donating $3,000 to the UAPB Golden Lions football team to help cover the cost of putting the players’ names on the back of their jerseys this season. We believe it’s important for these young men to take the field with pride—knowing their hard work, dedication, and identity are being recognized every time they suit up.This is more than just football—it’s about representing family, community, and legacy. And we’re proud to play a small part in uplifting these student-athletes.
The Athletic Department is working to have the upgrades completed in time for the upcoming football season.
