AAA Releases New Football Classifications, Conferences Impact Deltaplex Teams

The Arkansas Activities Association has released its new football classifications and conference alignments, bringing several changes for schools across the Deltaplex.

In Class 6A, Sheridan will remain in the 6A East Conference, which includes Benton, El Dorado, Jonesboro, Marion, Searcy, Sheridan, Sylvan Hills and West Memphis.

Class 5A will see Watson Chapel move out of the classification, while Pine Bluff and White Hall remain in 5A. Both schools will continue competing in the 5A South Conference alongside Arkansas High, Camden Fairview, De Queen, Hot Springs, Hot Springs Lakeside and Magnolia.

In Class 4A, Watson Chapel moves into the classification, while Helena-West Helena moves out. The Wildcats will compete in the 8-4A Conference with Crossett, DeWitt, Hamburg, Monticello, Star City, Stuttgart and Warren.

Class 3A also features changes in the 8-3A Conference, with Palestine-Wheatley moving out and Helena-West Helena moving in. The new conference alignment includes Barton, Drew Central, Dumas, Fordyce, Helena-West Helena Central, Lake Village, McGehee and Rison.

In Class 2A, Clarendon moves out of the 4-2A Conference, while Episcopal joins the classification. The new 4-2A Conference will consist of Baptist Prep, Bearden, Carlisle, England, Episcopal Collegiate, Hampton, Hazen and Poyen.

In 8-man football, the South Conference will include Blevins, Dermott, Friendship Aspire, Hermitage, Lafayette County, Strong and Woodlawn.
