
The Sheridan School Board voted in new officers at Monday night’s regularly scheduled meeting for the 2023/34 school year.
Jeff Lisenbey was elected as board President, replacing long time board President Jody Spann. Jan Caldwell was elected to a new term as board Vice President, a position she has previously held, while Jacob Palmer was elected Secretary and Legislative Liaison.
Additionally, several new teachers were hired by the board. Those teachers include:
Lana Shaddock – East End Middle School Science Teacher
MacKenzie Rash – Sheridan High School Science Teacher
Tegan Rea – East End Intermediate School Classroom Teacher
Monica Zaremba – Instructional Facilitator
Chasidy Lybrand – East End Elementary School Classroom Teacher
Madeline Lawhon – Sheridan Middle School ELA Teacher
Karlie Reid – Sheridan Middle School ELA Teacher
McCall Dail – Sheridan Middle School Social Studies/Baseball Assistant and Tennis Coach
Carrie Shankles – Sheridan Middle School Counselor.
Four Classified positions were also filled and are as follows:
Carrie Pruitt – Sheridan Elementary School Secretary Aide
Bethany Hutcheson – Sheridan Elementary School Instructional Assistant
Chloe Kelly – Sheridan Intermediate School Instructional Assistant
Rachel Boardman – East End Middle School Instructional Assistant
Resignations were also accepted from East End Middle School Art teacher Beth Otten and 9th grade dance coach Alex Whitehead.
Superintendent Karla Neathery stated that bus driver pay will be between $20 to $28 an hour, the district has acquired five new school busses, and all bus discipline will go through Director of Administrative Service Dennis Emerson beginning in the 2023/24 school year.
Neathery also stated that the district will work to improve communication to parents from the building level, up, regarding bus routes in the new school year.
