A second person who had been hospitalized following a traffic accident Sunday has died, according to a preliminary report from the Arkansas Department of Public Safety.
According to the report, Kevin Burris, 48, and James Gill, 56, both of Pine Bluff died from injuries they received when the driver of a 2002 Ford Explorer Scout, Kenneth Burris, 48, also of Pine Bluff swerved while trying to avoid being hit by a 2008 Honda Accord that had pulled out of the parking lot of Dollar General on Highway 65, 425 South at Hankins Road at 1:32 p.m.
The report said Kenneth Burris overcorrected, causing the vehicle to start rolling and while rolling all three occupants were ejected from the vehicle.
Kenneth Burris was hospitalized with serious injuries.
Also the report indicates that the windshield of a third vehicle, a 2013 Toyota Rav4 that had been southbound was struck by debris from the truck, causing the driver to run off the edge of the roadway.
The deaths bring to 382 the number of people killed on the state’s highways so far this year.
