A Mayflower man was killed Thursday night when he was hit by a vehicle on Interstate 40 in Faulkner County.

According to a preliminary report, Rodney Bowden, 55, stepped into the number one lane at mile marker 135 and was struck by a tractor-trailer rig that was eastbound.

The report said the driver of the tractor-trailer then pulled to the entrance ramp and parked. Bowden was pronounced dead at the scene.

The accident was reported at 9:44 a.m. and the death was the 375th so far this year on the state’s highways.
