A proposed three-eighth cent sales tax increase for public safety that was on the ballot in May failed by 20 votes and on Friday, Fire and Emergency Services Chief Shauwn Howell was asked about it.
Howell was a guest on the Oldies 1013 morning show and host Greg Horne said while Howell voiced support for the increase late in the campaign, many members of his department and the police department did not and asked Howell if he regretted not coming out more forcefully to support the initiative.
Howell was also asked where the department is going to go for extra money now that the tax has been beaten.
