Wardell Brown, Sr., 88 of Dermott passed away Friday, November 8, 2024 at his home. He was born October 5, 1936 in Dermott to the late Clayton Johnson and Camilla Golden. He was a member of Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses where he served as an elder in the congregation in Dermott, was a veteran, and was a retired guard for Arkansas Department of Corrections at the Delta Regional Unit. He loved talking about Jesus and talking about nature, he loved hunting and fishing, and spending time with family.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Eula Brown; son, Gregory Earl Brown; 2 brothers, Costello Brown and James Johnson; and 4 sisters, Pearl Mae Perry, Norvella Toston, Vessia Branson, and Charlotte Robertson.
Survivors include 3 sons, Wardell Brown, Jr. of Little Rock, Gregory (Tenna) Brown of California, and Kenneth (Rosalind) Bea of Dermott; sister, Alberta Coleman of Illinois; 13 grandchildren, Gregory D. Brown, Shanika Brown, Jhanae Brown, Iheniise Brown, Shquondaiea Redd, Dominique Brown, Gregory Bea, Jr., Antonio Bea, Kenneth Bea, Jr., McKinly Bea, Jacqueline Bea, Maranda McClay, and Nikki Williams; and many great-grandchildren.
Visitation is Sunday, November 17, 2024 from 6:00-8:00PM at Griffin Funeral Service in Star City. Funeral services are 10:00AM Monday, November 18, 2024 at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Dermott with Bro. David Hall officiating. Burial at Turner Hills Cemetery in Wilmar. Pallbearers are Ethan Williams, Leon Williams, Jr., Leon Williams, Sr., Terrence McClay, Sr., Rickey Keith, and Charles Jackson. Honorary pallbearers are Broderick Keith and Kenneth Bea, Sr. A family meal will be served after the committal at Honney Bea’s Backyard, 494 W. Gaines, Dermott, AR 71638.
