1933-2025
Verna Viola Langley Fitzgerald of Sheridan, Arkansas was born May 22, 1933, in Dalark, the daughter of the late O.W. and Gracie Mae Tucker Langley. She was an active member of Corinth Missionary Baptist Church where she served her Lord faithfully. She had retired from Kohler.
She was preceded in death by her husband who was her high school sweetheart and the love of her life for 71 years. They enjoyed camping, fishing, and riding together on his Goldwing. They traveled all over many states to attend motorcycles rallies.
She also took pride in cooking meals for her children and grandchildren and celebrating family traditional holidays always at her house. She also enjoyed going to her grandchildren’s ball games.
Ms. Fitzgerald passed away on Sunday, April 27, 2025, at Arkansas Hospice in St. Vincent’s Hospital at the age of 91.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Fitzgerald; son-in-law, Doyle Lee; brothers, Wallace Langley, CA Langley, Charles Langley; sisters Maxine Brown, and Marie Heath.
Survivors: son, Ricky Fitzgerald (Bonnie) of Sheridan; daughters, Debbie Hitt (Terry) of Sheridan, Pat Threet (Carroll) of East End, Judy Lee of Sheridan; sister, Lil Cranford of Sheridan; 9 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, 3 great great grandchildren with 2 on the way and a host of nieces, nephews, friends and church family.
Funeral service will be 2:00 PM Thursday, May 1, 2025, at Corinth Missionary Baptist Church with Bro. Tyler Askew and her grandson Bro. Adam Fitzgerald officiating. Burial will follow at Corinth Cemetery. There will be no visitation.
Pallbearers are Lathan Lancaster, Wayne Hitt, Ezra Tucker, Jude Kramer, Michael Sebree, Marty Lancaster, Travis Ricker and Laith Adams.
The family would like to thank Arkansas Hospice, St Vincent’s Medical Center and Dr. Yeugenity Apostolov for the loving care and compassion that was given to her.
