Mr. Sammy Alfred Slater, Jr. was born on March 4, 1946, to the union of Samuel and Earnestine Slater in Sherrill, Arkansas.
Sammy received his formal education from Altheimer Public Schools. After leaving Altheimer, Arkansas, he and his family relocated to Wheatley, Arkansas, where he worked alongside his father as agricultural laborers. Sammy later moved to Moro, Arkansas, where he remained employed until his retirement.
In his leisure time, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and gardening. Sammy loved the Lord and, from time to time, he shared moments of prayer with his neighbor, Mr. Peterson.
He departed this life on Saturday, May 16, 2026 and will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Sammy was preceded in death by his father, Mr. Samuel Slater; his mother, Mrs. Earnestine Slater; his brother, Dennis Slater; and two sisters, Martha Howard and Ruby Fowler.
Sammy leaves to cherish his memories four sisters, Georgia Allen, Lois Shelton, Clodine Hunter, and Wanda Collins, along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and church family. He will also be greatly missed by his two special friends, Mr. Louis Peterson and Mrs. Mabel Dean Smith.
