Rodney Powell, 57
1969-2026

Rodney Lynn Powell, age 57 of Sherrill, passed away Wednesday, July 8, 2026. He was born June 10, 1969 in Pine Bluff and graduated from White Hall High School in 1987.

He worked as a master carpenter for Failla Contracting for more than 20 years and was a licensed pyrotechnician in the State of Arkansas for 30 years. In 2006, he proudly contributed to the renovation of the Plantation Agriculture Museum in Scott. A highlight of his career was organizing and shooting the annual Fourth of July fireworks celebration in Pine Bluff, a tradition he cherished and took great pride in sharing with the community each year. He also had the honor of shooting the Christmas fireworks show at the State Capitol in Little Rock, a memorable milestone in his career.

Preceded in death by parents, R L Powell and Sheila Ann Kimbrell Powell; and stepdaughter, Mackenzie Paul.

Survivors include his wife, Liz Paul Powell, whom he married on December 25, 2010; his son, Tristan Powell of South Carolina; his brother, Chad Powell; his stepson, Chance Paul (Marly) of Star City; his stepdaughters, Cristy Morris and Monica Casey (Roger), both of Alabama; his grandchildren, Megan Morris, Jackson Casey, Henry Morris, SallyAnn Morris, Phisher Casey, Hazel Morris, Mabee Bern, Remi Dunagan, and Sayge Paul, with one additional grandchild expected in November 2026; and a host of nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at his home, 1407 Trulock Road, Sherrill, AR 72152 on Friday, July 10, 2026, at 6:00 p.m. The family was assisted by Robinson & Fuller White Hall Chapel.
