1949-2025
Mary Tillman Smith was born on September 3, 1949, in Gould, Arkansas, to the late James and Lottie Mitchell Akins. She was educated in the Gould School System before later relocating to Little Rock, Arkansas, where she faithfully worked for over 24 years as a CNA in various assisted living facilities.
While living in Little Rock, Mary accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior and found joy in singing in the choir. She also cherished every moment spent with her family.
As Mary’s health began to decline, she moved to Fort Worth, Texas, to be with her children, who lovingly and faithfully cared for her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Lottie Akins; one son, Gregory Tillman; and two sisters, Eula and Sherry Akins.
Mary leaves to cherish her memory three sons: Troy Tillman, Melvin Tillman, and Demetric (Cathy) Tillman, all of Fort Worth, Texas; four sisters: Viola Tillman of Jacksonville, Arkansas, Lynnett Marshall, Onedia Akins, and Phenia Smith, all of Gould, Arkansas; six grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
