Larry James Babcock, 77
1948-2025

Larry James Babcock of Redfield, Arkansas was born March 15, 1948, in Chariton, Iowa the son of the late James Junior and Silvia Bell Bough Babcock. Mr. Larry was a proud U.S. Navy veteran having served for 25 years on various duty stations and ships including the USS Kitty Hawk, USS Coral Sea, USS Abraham Lincoln, USS Yorktown, and Lamoore Naval Air Station. Larry also worked numerus jobs in his civilian life including working at Entergy for 23 years and he was a member of Redfield United Methodist Church. Larry was extremely talented mechanically and could fix anything, "I'll build it" he'd say and seemingly anything he placed his hands on he could find a way to fix. He loved working on cars, riding his tractors, eating sweets, playing with his dogs, planting trees and flowers, and even working on computers. Yet, as much as Larry loved working and fixing things, and as proud as he was of his service, nothing came before his love of his family who he was so proud of and loved with all his heart.

Mr. Larry passed away Wednesday May 7, 2025, at his home surrounded by his family at the age of 77.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother Mark Babcock and his son in law Scott Elkins. He is survived by his wife of 57 years Jean Haley Babcock, daughters Rhonda Elkins and Tonia (Chad) Breeding, sister Marilyn Kay (Bob) Hoffmann, four grandchildren Scooter (Kara) Elkins, Baley (Bailey) Elkins, Moe Breeding, and Kolton Breeding, and one great grandchild Anna Elkins

Graveside service will be 10:00 A.M. May 12, 2025, at Redfield Cemetery in Redfield, AR with Bro. Tony Lawhon officiating.
