1938-2026
June Ruth Matthews, 88, of White Hall, Arkansas, passed away peacefully on June 1, 2026. She was born on May 30, 1938, in Vicksburg, Mississippi, to the late Seth Kent Anderson and Hester Marie Foust Anderson of Vicksburg, MS.
June loved being outdoors and found joy in life’s simple pleasures (Picking up sticks in the yard). She loved planting shrubs and flowers and shopping for more things for the house. Also, was great in the kitchen and loved cooking meals for family. Christmas was her favorite time of year and she loved to decorate for the holiday. A devoted believer in Jesus Christ, June lived her Faith. She worked in accounting for Liberty Water (General Waterworks) and retired in 2002 after 32 years.
She was preceded in death by her late husband George Elwood Matthews, married for 69 years, and siblings: Rosa LeMay, Sally Anderson, Robert Anderson, Kent Anderson Jr. and Bonard Deardorff.
She is survived by her children, Randy Matthews and wife Cheryl of Little Rock, and Carla Brinkley and husband Randy of White Hall; her grandsons, Jonathan Matthews (Courtney), Scott Matthews (Anna), Brad Matthews (Kayla), and Mason Brinkley (Rainey); and six great-grandchildren—Tucker, Kayla, Emma, Jake, Leela, and Lily Matthews—each of whom brought joy and pride to her life.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, June 5, 2026, at Memorial Park Cemetery, with Brother Steve Monk officiating. A memorial visitation will follow from 12:00–2:00 p.m. at Robinson Fuller White Hall Funeral Chapel.
We would like to thank the staff at Woodland Heights Senior Living in Little Rock for their love and care for June.
June will be remembered for her kindness, love of family, steadfast faith, and love of visiting with others. Her presence will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
