John Milton Mommsen, 87
1938-2025

John Milton Mommsen passed away peacefully on May 12, 2025, at Baptist Hospital in Little Rock. Johnny was born on June 10, 1938, to William Arlo Mommsen and Josephine Rosalie Gingrich Mommsen.

Johnny leaves behind his wife of 18 years, Sandra Simpson Mommsen. Children Sandy Kizer (Tim) of Rogers, Kim Whiting (John) of Bella Vista, Scotty Mommsen of Rogers, Amber Simpson Kagebein of Stuttgart, Katie Simpson Sollars (Josh) of Dewitt, & Rance Simpson (Carol) of Dewitt. Sister Billie Jo Gardner (Paul) of DeWitt. Grandchildren Patrick Hartz (Ashley) of Fayetteville, Abby Hehemann (Will) of Poland, Blair Whiting of Bella Vista, Alex Whiting (Alexandra) of Bentonville, Kelli Mommsen of Seattle, WA, & Ella Blakely Simpson of Dewitt. Great grandchildren Kylie Ann Whiting of Bentonville & Milton Eugene Whiting of Bella Vista. Mother-in-law Alma Young of DeWitt

Greeting him in heaven are his parents and his wife of 44 years, Charlotte Bueker Mommsen.

Johnny is a lifelong active member of St Luke’s Lutheran Church where he faithfully served in many capacities & has been a trustee for over 50 years. He served his country in the Army National Guard. He is a past President & lifetime member of the Arkansas County Fair Board. Johnny loved the land and appreciated all the natural blessings the Lord provided. He was a kind, gentle, humble, wonderful man and a blessing to all who knew him.

Visitation will be 5:00-6:30 Friday, May 16 at Essex Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 10:00 May 17 at St. Luke Lutheran Church with burial following in Lone Tree Cemetery.
