John Thorne, Jr. was born on July 20, 1960, in Dumas, Arkansas, to Barbara Jones Thorne and the late John Henry Thorne, Sr. He transitioned from this earthly life to his Heavenly home on February 28, 2026.
He attended school in the Dumas School System during his early years until moving to Omaha, Nebraska. There he lived for forty-five years. As his health began to fail, he relocated with his son John to Stroud, Oklahoma, where he lived for four and a half years.
John enjoyed meeting his friends at Carter Lake for social gatherings, basketball, and fishing while he lived in Omaha.
John leaves to cherish his memory his mother, Barbara Jones Thorne of Dumas, Arkansas; grandmother, Virginia Hudson of Richmond, California; three sons, John Strong of Stroud, Oklahoma, Andre Newsome, and Johnathon Thorne of Omaha, Nebraska; four brothers, Larry Moreland of Omaha, Nebraska (special friend Natalie Smith), Gerald Thorne of Dumas, Arkansas, Gregory (Mary) Thorne of Houston, Texas, and Micheal (Felicia) Meadows of Tampa, Florida; five sisters, Claria Thorne, Barbara B. Thorne of Little Rock, Arkansas, Deborah (Raymond) Gills of Omaha, Nebraska, Kaye Thorne, and Beverly Thorne of Dumas, Arkansas; one aunt, Gloria Ann Dodds of Gould, Arkansas; two grandchildren; special cousins Paul and Tina Jones; and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends.
