Janie Hughes Wayne, 92, of Pine Bluff, Arkansas, went to be with the Lord on Friday, May 2, 2025. She was born on September 22, 1932, in Marion, Kentucky. She was known as a loving and supportive Mother, MawMaw, and friend.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bernie Wayne; parents, Henry Claude and Anna Lee Hughes; daughters, Melanie Want and Norma Jean Kirkpatrick; grandchildren, Jennifer Wood, Charles Wood, Christopher Wood, Denise Kirkpatrick, and Randy Kirkpatrick.
Survivors include her daughter, Pamela (H.R. “Beau”) Wood of Grady; grandchildren, John (Tedra) Want, III of Pine Bluff, Jason (Ruth Ann) Want of Midland, Michigan, Patrick Wood of Conway, and Brianne Wood of Grady; great-grandchildren, Jenny Long, Maya Want, Sofia McVay, Scarlett Gentry, and numerous nephews and nieces.
Janie enjoyed cooking, cards, and bowling. Her kitchen was always open to anyone, “if you’re hungry help yourself” unless she was cooking, then it was “stay out of my kitchen”. She loved hugs, and always told you “Bye, be sweet, I love you.”
Graveside services will be 10:30 a.m., Saturday, May 10, 2025 at Grady Cemetery with Chuck Fuller officiating by Ralph Robinson and Son Funeral Directors. Janie will be in state Friday afternoon from 2-4 p.m. at Robinson’s.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Arkansas Children’s Hospital, 1 Children's Way, Little Rock, AR 72202, or Rescue Road, 17200 Chenal Parkway, Suite 300, #171, Little Rock, AR 72223 to help with pet adoptions.
